How Do You Play Telephone?

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Jack's vocabulary has expanded to nearly 30 words and he started really associating words with concepts. For example, he repeatedly says "more more more" when he wants more grapes or milk, etc. He also knows that we won't give him anything unless he says "please" so he says "peesh" all the time when asking for something and then immediately follows it by "thank you".
"Hot" was one of his first words and he knows that the microwave, stove, oven and coffee pot are hot. He says "hawt" and puts his hand out to tell us that we shouldn't touch it. He does the same thing over our coffee cups to warn us. Because Daddy drinks coffee basically all day long, Jack says "hot" A LOT! Yesterday Daddy realized just how much coffee he drinks when we were driving to dinner and stopped at a stoplight. All of a sudden Jack started saying "hot hot hot" and pointing out the window. We realized he was pointing to the Starbucks on the corner!!!

What a Big Boy!!!

Yesterday was Jack's 18 month check up and the doctor confirmed what we already knew--the kid is big! He is still in the 99th percentile for height (35.5 inches--that's right, almost 3 feet tall!) and 75th percentile for weight (almost 28 pounds) which means he is proportional (i.e. he doesn't loko goofy!) but he is definitely bigger than almost all other kids his age. This was obviously not surprising to Mommy and Daddy since most people ask if he is 2 1/2 years old and he is tall enough to put his dishes in the sink. Mommy finds this a little concerning because she thinks Jack will be taller than her by the time he is 5 years old!

Accessories! Accessories!

Jack has a great sense of style and loves his accessories! Here he is sporting his super cool green froggy hat. You'll see it next year on the runways at NY Fashion Week!Mid-calf Burberry rain boots?? Nah! Full leg plaid plastic chaps!

Are they sunglasses? Are they reading glasses? Is he the next Harry Potter?

No folks, its not a halo! He's a little too precocious for that! Its Mommy's black leather headband!

Multi-tasking

When Mommy was little, she had a very strange concern that she would hurt a toy's "feelings" if she played with another toy too long. This was especially true when playing with her dolls. It appears that Jack may have the same concern. He can never seem to decide exactly which toy he wants to play with so he has taken to playing with several at one time. We think he wishes he had more than 2 arms and 2 legs!

Sweet Tooth

Jack seems to have inherited his mother's sweet tooth...

A New Place to Hang Out

All babies seem to like tupperware-type containers and Jack makes no exception. However, Jack not only likes the containers, he LOVES the drawer that holds the containers. He has a whole routine. He starts by climbing in and examining what is inside...
Next he rids the drawer of all the containers...
Finally, he stands up and admires his mess (please pay no attention to the mess that is on the kitchen counters--this was when we were all getting over being sick!). As a side note, would you look at how freakin' tall this kid is??!! He is almost 3 feet tall, which may not seem like much but when you aren't even 18 months old, its a whole lot!!!!

He's Baaaaack!

Well, our little man has fully recovered and is back to his mischievous ways. We are so thrilled to see Jack happy and healthy and loving life again. If the weather would turn for the better maybe he won't get sick any more this winter! Here is a Jack watching Daddy shovel snow on the back porch.

Sick Sick Baby

Sorry for the lack of posts recently but our little family has been dealing with some big time illnesses. Mommy and Daddy battled a chest cold for the past few weeks and Mommy actually lost her voice for 5 days. Then poor Jack has been suffering from the stomach flu for a week (mommy and daddy had it for 24 hours) and hasn't had any energy to do anything except watch his Sesame Street music DVDs (oh so fun for mommy and daddy). We finally seem to be on the mend though so hopefully Jack will be back to his precocious and smiley self soon and then we will have more exciting pictures and posts for our blog. In the meantime, pray for warmer weather and an end to the seemingly endless winter that we are experiencing here in Chicago.
