Could it be true?

Well, its seems like we have overcome a huge hurdle in our house...Jack is done with pacifiers!!! 2 nights ago we were getting him ready for bed and we couldn't find a paci in his room. Daddy said that Wrigley ate one earlier in the day so I quickly told Jack that Wrigley ate ALL the pacifiers. He was slightly upset and asked for his paci a few times but fell asleep with very little fuss. Of course, as soon as Mommy and Daddy walked out of his room, we looked all over the house for the pacis, just in case! When Jack awoke the next morning he asked for his paci again but we told him that Wrigley ate them. He took a 2 hour nap at school with no paci and went to sleep last night again without it!!

Now, if we could only get potty training down and move Jack to a toddler bed!

Strawberry Pickin'

When we told Jack we were going strawberry picking, he could barely sleep or eat out of pure excitement. Mommy and Daddy broke the #1 rule of parenting a 2 year old---don't tell them you are going to do something until you are pulling into the parking lot! Otherwise you will suffer dire consequences such as no naps, no eating and constantly asking if its time to do whatever it is you are going to do. Its a good thing strawberry picking met his high expectations.

Puddle Jumping

Rainy weather stinks and unfortunately we have had plenty of it. Jack is desperate to be outside so when the rain stopped (briefly) we donned our Lightning McQueen rainboots and decided to make the most of it! Luckily there was a good-sized puddle right in our driveway!

Popsicles!

Jack has discovered popsicles and his adoration runs deep. When we were grocery shopping last week, Jack was pushing around the kiddie cart and helping us check off our shopping list. He was also randomly putting things into his cart that he found interesting or desirable. We obviously put all of those things back until Jack put a popsicle mold in his cart. Being the pushovers that we are, we caved and let him get it. Of course it was all he could talk and think about for the next few days so we eventually got around to making popscicles. Now Mommy tries to limit Jack's sugar intake because if he were given free reign he would eat ice cream and M&M cookies for every meal. Therefore, we used V-8 Fusion Strawberry Banana juice and Jack was hooked. Seriously, we killed 2 birds with 1 stone because Jack gets his treat AND a full serving of fruits and veggies! The funny part about the whole thing was that Jack had no idea how to actually eat a popsicle. When I handed it to him, he wrapped his hands around the popsicle itself and looked at to try to figure out how to eat it. Once I showed him though he had no problems going forward!

Virginia Aquarium

A few weeks ago I took Jack and Chyann to the Virginia Aquarium. It wasn't quite as spectacular as the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago (mostly because it is majorly under construction) but we still had a great time. Jack and Chyann really love each other so much and they play remarkably well together, especially considering Chyann is almost 3 years older than Jack-Jack. (This picture also shows you how ridiculously tall he is. We frequently get people who ask us if he is 4 or 5 years old). The sting ray tank was a huge hit. They would get so excited when the rays started to swim toward them but Jack would always pull back at the last minute. He kept saying he touched them but never actually did. However, he DID drink the stink ray water!!! UGH! I wanted to pour a bottle of santizer down his throat! He is ALL BOY!
Considering Mommy is deathly afraid of sharks, I don't think she would look quite so happy inside the mouth of one!
This was too funny! There was a fish tank with a bubble in the middle that the kids could stand. Jack and Chyann got such a kick out of watching the fish swim around their heads!

He Surprised Us!

Tonight during dinner Jack was counting the beans on his plate. He really loves to count things and gets very excited about doing it. For example, the other day in the car Jack was singing and being generally loud and he yelled, "Count with me Mommy". I started counting and he kept saying "louder! louder!" We were both eventually screaming our numbers and Jack would cheer after each one. Anways, back to tonight. As we were counting beans, Jack looked into the living room and then back at me and all of sudden started counting in Spanish. Not only did he count in Spanish, he counted all the way to 6! We had no idea he knew any Spanish, much less how to count to 6! Keep the surprises coming, buddy!

Happy Birthday Nana!

Saturday was Nana's birthday and we just wanted to say how much we love her. Happy Birthday Nana. You're the best!

Summer is Here!

On Sunday we celebrated Nana's birthday with a luau at our house. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, especially for swimming in Jack's new pool.I think its safe to say that he likes the pool and playing with Chyann.
Happy Birthday Nana!

Jack and Maya, Sitting in a Tree...

A few weekends ago, we took a little trip to Nana and Papa's house in Wintergreen and brought along our friends Mary Grace and Maya. In case you didn't know, Maya is Jack's girlfriend. They love each other."Can you hear my heart beating for you?"

"I got you!"

While the grown up boys played golf, the ladies plus Jack decided to spend the morning at Veritas Vineyards. The mommies drank wine and ate cheese while the rugrats got all their energy out. Jack managed to stand still for a brief second for Mommy to take a picture.
Jack is learning to play ball. He is really good at throwing but hasn't quite mastered catching. He just stands there and lets the ball hit him in the head and then bursts out laughing!

The Sand Between Our Toes...

We are loving being back at the beach. Jack asks us to take him on a daily basis and he hasn't even had an opportunity to go in the water. He simply loves the sand between his toes and the freedom to run and play.

In his mommy's opinion, there is nothing cuter than this little boy and his shadow :)Of course we bring Wrigley along for the adventure. She LOVES playing fetch with Daddy and getting all her puppy energy out!
Wrigley is getting so big! She is only 6 months old and already towers over Jack. He still loves her though, especially when he gets to hold her leash.
